LUCY JOY
JAZZ SINGER, IMPROVISER, SONGWRITER & COMPOSER
About
Lucy Joy is a vocalist, improviser, songwriter and composer/arranger based in London. Her original music fuses rolling, swaggering modal jazz and sensual, rich female vocal songwriting but she is equally at home finding ways to lusciously and imaginatively reinvent jazz standards. She has worked with many members of the modern jazz scene, including Scott Stroman, Darmon Meader, Trish Clowes, Clare Wheeler, members of the legendary New York Voices (Peter Eldridge and Lauren Kinhan) and members of jazz supergroup MOSS (Kate McGarry, Theo Bleckmann, and Jo Lawry). Also an accomplished co-writer, composer and arranger, she has had the pleasure of working with Georgia Cécile, Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts), Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy) and Callum Au (Raye, Michael Buble, Metropole Orkest). Lucy is also a versatile and reliable session vocalist, having performed and recorded for a variety of projects including with vocal powerhouse Corinne Bailey Rae, for jazz/soul singer/songwriter Ola Onabule and with the Guildhall Session Singers and Guildhall Jazz Singers.
